War/Documentary Return To Tarawa 1 x 60 minutes 1989 War/Documentary Return To Tarawa 1 x 60 minutes 1989 |
This
special is a moving tribute to the nearly 6,000 men who lost their lives on an island that still bears the scars of a battle that lasted 72 hours. The Burrud/Hinshaw production team was the only film crew allowed to document this memorable ceremony commemorating the 45th anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles in the U.S. Marine Corps' history. Return to Tarawa takes a retrospective look at this battle, in part, through graphic combat footage, filmed at great personal risk by courageous navy and marine cameramen. The footage reveals the intensity of a savage battle where no telephoto lens was needed to spot the enemy. Return to Tarawa peaks with some very touching and emotional interviews with returning veterans. *Originally produced for Discovery Networks

Movie-Family The Call of Kilimanjaro 1 x 90 minutes 1997 Movie-Family |
Our
beautiful family film was shot on location in East Africa with cinematography as evocative as anything done by National Geographic. It's a tale of the Masai, nomadic pastoralists living in the shadow of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The Call of Kilimanjaro is the story of Lengetti, his rite of passage to manhood becoming a warrior in the best traditions of his society. Tutored by his father, he is sent as a boy to guard a herd of 50 cattle, his father's pride. Later, we meet him as a young man when the village is in crisis. The Laibon, or spiritual leader, calls for an expedition to a cave at the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro where there grows a special moss with magical powers. Lengetti's brother is sent and the young man, unable to resist temptation, sneaks behind him. It's a near-deadly mission... The future of the village rests on Lengetti's shoulders. * *Recipient of the Silver Award for Best Children's film and video from the Worldfest Charleston Film Festival. **Recognition of Excellence in Children's Media by The Chicago International Children's Film Festival. **Special Invitation to premiere at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. *Produced by Burrud Productions, Inc. and Ampersand Productions Inc.
